A top federal employer is looking for a Construction Inspector to join their team in Redstone Arsenal, Alabama. This role supports the GSA Oasis Program for USACE and involves contributing to a competitive price and technical proposal. The Construction Inspector will be responsible for reviewing and overseeing assigned projects onsite, managing construction work, reviewing RFIs and submittals, evaluating pricing for change orders, and inspecting construction activities as outlined in the Performance Work Statement (PWS). The position covers vertical construction (MILCON), building restoration, and civil work such as parking lots and land development (excluding heavy civil works like flood walls or earth movement). Daily Job Hazard Analyses (JHA) are required.
Some responsibilities of the Construction Inspector will include but are not limited to:
- Performing comprehensive inspections of new building construction, renovations, electrical/mechanical systems (HVAC/plumbing), roofing/structural/envelope work, and site/civil/utility improvements.
- Ensuring all phases of construction comply with contract specifications, regulations, and approved plans.
- Reviewing contractor's quality management and control procedures, construction submittals, project deficiencies, claims and requests for equitable adjustments, technical interpretations of drawings/specifications, contractor's record of work accomplished, project plans/specs for practicability, and RFIs.
- Attending weekly project meetings and providing feedback and solutions to current project issues.
- Submitting monthly progress reports detailing accomplishments, challenges, and planned activities.
- Filling out daily JHA forms via phone.
LOCATION/TRAVEL:
- Redstone Arsenal, Alabama
- Travel required to jobsites within Redstone Arsenal; reliable transportation is necessary
- Candidates should be located in or around Huntsville
SCHEDULE:
- Monday - Friday
- Standard business hours
IMPORTANT TO NOTE:
- This is a Quality Assurance (QA) role, not Quality Control (QC).
- The inspector may be required to perform inspections for any combination of the listed areas, depending on project assignment, ensuring full compliance with USACE, Federal, and contract standards.
- All work must be verified for compliance with contract specifications, codes, and USACE standards as outlined in the PWS.
Ability to start within 15 days of accepting the role is preferred.

Skills and Requirements
- 10+ years' experience with at least 5 projects similar in size and scope to those described in the PWS completed within the past 5 years (multi-building construction, renovations, site utility work).
- Experience delivering complex federal construction projects on time and within budget - Project Examples: Prior GSA experience with building renovations; USACE or MILCON experience working onsite; Vertical construction experience for DoD.
- If coming from the Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) directly, must understand any restrictions on project types they can support.
- Reliable transportation. - Army Corps of Engineers, DoD, or GSA experience as a CQM (Construction Quality Manager); titles such as Project Engineer, Inspector, Sr. Inspector, or Lead Inspector are valued.
- CCM certification.
- Prior GSA experience with building renovations.
- USACE or MILCON experience working onsite.
