The mission of the California Labor Commissioner's Office is to ensure a just day's pay in every workplace in the State and to promote economic justice through robust enforcement of labor laws. By combating wage theft, protecting workers from retaliation, and educating the public, we put earned wages into workers' pockets and help level the playing field for law-abiding employers. This office is also known as the Division of Labor Standards Enforcement (DLSE).

Under the supervision of the Deputy Labor Commissioner III (DLC III/Senior Deputy) in the Wage Claim Adjudication (WCA) unit, the Office Technician (Typing) performs a wide variety of the most difficult clerical duties for the WCA program in order to support the labor code law enforcement functions of the program efficiently and effectively. The Office Technician (Typing) performs processing and data entry of various documents including claims, Public Records Act (PRA) requests, and reports.

High-volume fast-paced office that handles wage claims and constantly interfaces with the public.

Special Requirements

  • The position(s) require(s) the ability to type at a minimum speed as designated on the Class Specifications (link available in the additional documentation section). You must obtain a valid typing certificate confirming your ability to meet the minimum typing speed, prior to being hired. Additional information regarding acceptable typing tests is available at the CalCareers.ca.gov website.

Typing Certificate requirements:

- Minimum typing speed of 40 WPM,

- issued within the last four (4) years, and

- certified from a proctored, five (5) minute typing test.
